COVID-19 Time Off & Leave of Absence

 

For the purpose of tracking COVID-19 related leave, Zenefits has added 2 new Reasons to Sick Leave in the Time Off app:

  • COVID-19 Self Care
  • COVID-19 Family Care

 

These Reasons will be marked as Not Counted. If you use a calendar feed to display your Zenefits Time Off, these reason will be generalized as Time Off. All requests will be recorded in the PTO Summary report, which can also be used to update your payroll system as necessary. Although Zenefits is providing these leave and time off types, they are not tracked in the system. It is the employer's responsibility to ensure that the time off limits are monitored. You can monitor the amount of time off or leave being taken by downloading the Time Taken & PTO Requests report from the Reports tab of the Time Off app. Even if employees are on a PTO policy where the accrual method is  “Hours per hours worked” and the “Accrue on PTO” setting is true, accruals for above leaves will not happen automatically. The admin needs to adjust the appropriate balance manually.

 


If you use Zenefits Payroll:

 

 

Please note that COVID-19 requests will not flow from Time Off into Zenefits Payroll. Use the instructions below to assist in updating payroll.

 

  1. Either the employee or manager/admin submits a time off or leave request using a COVID-19 related reason.
  2. An administrator with Time permissions downloads the Time Taken & PTO Requests report.
  3. Then, the report can be used to update your pay run.

 

 

If you use another payroll provider:

 

  1. Either the employee or manager/admin submits a time off or leave request using a  COVID-19  related reason.
  2. An administrator with Time permissions downloads the Time Taken & PTO Requests report.
  3. Then, the report can be used to update your pay run.
