The measurement period is followed by an administrative period, which is a relatively brief period of time (up to 90 days) that you can use to “look back” and determine which employees should be considered “full-time” qualified employees based on their average hours of service during the measurement period.
During this period, companies can also give eligible employees the opportunity to enroll for coverage. Zenefits strongly recommends that companies align their administrative period with their existing open enrollment period.
Keep in mind that coverage must begin by the first day of the 14th month after an employee is hired if they are determined to be eligible during their initial measurement period, which might limit a company's initial administrative period.
