Handling Overlaps in Measurement Periods for New Hires
Unless a new hire begins work on the exact day that a company’s standard measurement period starts, there will be an overlap between the initial measurement period (specific to each new hire based on their start date) and the standard measurement period used by other employees. The hours worked by the employee during the two measurement periods will determine their overall coverage eligibility.
In the event of an overlap, hours worked during the overlap period will be taken into account for both the initial and standard measurement periods. Once a new hire's initial measurement period ends, their hours will be counted based on the standard measurement period.
