New Hire Reporting in Zenefits

The Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996 requires all employers to report newly hired and re-hired employees to a state directory within 20 days of their hire or rehire date.

In most cases, payroll providers will handle new hire reporting when a new hire is added to payroll.

  • If you are actively running payroll in Zenefits, we will handle new hire reporting for you (regardless of your tax level of service).
  • Companies who use Zenefits but don't have Zenefits Payroll should work with their payroll provider to handle new hire reporting.
