How does Slack integrate with Zenefits?

Slack is a new kind of messaging for teams that brings all your communications together in one place.

When you integrate Slack with Zenefits, you can use the integration to:

  • Invite new hires to your team during the hiring process in Zenefits.
  • Allow workers to submit Time Off request through the Zenefits Slack Bot.
  • Allow managers to approve or deny Time Off requests through the Zenefits Slack Bot.
  • Deactivate users in Slack when they’re terminated in Zenefits.

Setting up a Slack integration

You can set up your Slack integration by selecting the Add an App option on the main dashboard and then selecting Slack from the list.

You'll need to have administrator permissions on the Slack Account you want to link in order to set up the integration.

You'll also need to grant permissions to Slack for the following items in Zenefits:

  • Basic company information
  • Employment information
  • Basic information
  • Work email addresses
  • Reporting managers
  • Employment statuses

Once you've granted these permissions, you'll be taken to the Slack site to complete the setup. Once the setup is completed, the green Connected status will appear under the app's  icon . Please keep in mind that it can take up to one to two business days for the integration to complete.

Using the Slack integration

Once Slack and Zenefits are synced, the Slack app will show up in your main administrator dashboard. You can use it by clicking it and then selecting Manage in Slack. In the integration, you'll be able to see which workers are synced in Slack, manage them in Slack through the Manage option, or disconnect Slack from Zenefits through the Disconnect option.

Using the Zenefits Slack Bot

The Zenefits Slack Bot helps you manage your workers' time off requests by allowing them to directly request time-off in Slack. These requests will automatically be routed to their manager and the data is updated directly in Zenefits once the request is approved.
