How do I hire a paid or unpaid intern in Zenefits?

Here is how to hire a paid or unpaid intern in Zenefits.

Begin the hiring flow

From your admin dashboard, click the Hire button in the Directory app. Or click the Hiring app and then click the Add Team Member button.

Enter the intern's employment information

  1. On the Employment Type step, select Employee, then Intern from the employment type section.
  2. On the Offer Details page, use the compensation type drop down menu to select either Hourly or Salaried.
  3. If the intern will be:
    • Paid: Enter the hourly rate or annual salary.
    • Unpaid: Enter $0 and a brief reason. This reason will be shown in the Profile's Employment & Compensation section.
