What is creditable coverage for Medicare?

Creditable coverage for Medicare is prescription drug coverage that is expected to pay on average as much as the standard Medicare prescription drug coverage. Individuals who are enrolled in a group health plan, such as employer-sponsored coverage or union coverage, will receive an annual notice confirming whether or not that coverage is considered "creditable." These notices need to be delivered by the plan administrator by October 15th of each year.
