What happened to my Clair Spending Account?
Effective January 13, 2025, Clair will be closing all existing Clair Spending and Savings Accounts. Clair is offering free instant transfer to move money out of any existing Clair Spending and Savings Accounts through January 9, 2025. As a reminder, January 9, 2025 is the last day users will be able to spend funds within their account via physical/online debit card purchases, ACHs, and instant transfers. Customer employees carrying a balance on or after January 13 will be issued a final check to their address on file within 45 days of account closure.
Who is Clair?
Clair is an Earned Wage Access (EWA) provider that offers access to a portion of earned wages before your regularly scheduled payday. Clair is made available by your employer through HR Platform. To be eligible for On-Demand Pay, you must meet the following criteria:
- You are currently employed by an employer eligible for Clair
- You are 18 years of age or older
- Your bank account consistently receives direct deposits for your payroll, with at least one paycheck deposited in the last 30 days
- You have a valid SSN, are employed in the US, and reside in a state where Clair operates*
Note: Clair states it is actively working to expand its product in all 50 states. Currently. Clair does not operate in Nevada, Connecticut, New Mexico, South Dakota, Minnesota, Florida, Massachusetts, Colorado, or Montana. Visit the Clair website for the latest information.

How much of my paycheck can I access before my regularly scheduled payday?
The amount available to access is based on how much you have already worked in a given pay period. The minimum amount you can access is $50, and the maximum amount you can access each pay period is $200.1
Clair is always trying to find ways to make more funds available. As a result, the latest maximum amount can be found here.
Are there any fees with Clair?
There is a fee— $4.50 per transaction if you choose to access your funds On-Demand.2 On-Demand access to earned wages may not be immediate; however, according to Clair, earned wages are typically provided within less than 3 minutes.2
There are no fees or interest to receive your advance within 1-3 business days via standard ACH, or if you opt to get the funds instantly you can pay an instant transfer fee.2
Does this notify my employer?
No, although your employer is aware of this benefit, they are not notified when any employee access wages early or returns wages to Clair.
