What happens in Zenefits Payroll if I switch compensation type from salaried to hourly (or vice versa)?
If your company has more than one pay schedule in Zenefits Payroll and you need to move a salaried employee to hourly (or vice versa), give the change an effective date of the first day of their next pay period. Compensation changes are applied in the current open pay period, not the following period.
If you must choose an effective date in the middle of the pay period, the worker will appear in both the hourly and salaried pay runs for one pay period. The hours that they have worked will sync to the hourly pay run, but you may wish to double check to see if proration is needed. As a reminder, only hours for the effective date of their compensation type change moving forward will be included on the hourly pay run.
