Goals for Performance Management

Set a goal for yourself:

1. After logging in to your Zenefits account, click on the Performance Management app.

2. Select Goals from the navigation bar at the top of the page.

3. Click Create Goal to get started.

Once you create your goal, you’ll be able to update any progress on the Goals overview page.

Edit a goal by clicking on the pencil icon next to the goal. From there, you can update the description, name, and start/end date.

You've done it! To mark a goal as completed, click on the gray Update Progress bar. Once you click on Close Goal, then it'll be moved to your Closed Goals section.

The completion of the goal doesn't depend on the end date. Instead, think of the end date as a target for completing the goal.

There are three methods that you can use to measure the progress of your goals by setting a target:
  • Percentage (%)
  • Volume (Numeric)
  • Dollars ($)
You'll be able to choose the measurement that most aligns with your objective when you first create your goal.
There are two statuses for goals: On Track and Off Track. All goals will be set to On Track by default.

To update the status of a goal:
  1. After logging into your Zenefits account, click on the Performance Management app.
  2. Click on Goals, and locate the goal you'd like to update.
  3. Clicking on the Update Progress bar will give you the option to update the status of your goal, or mark it as complete.

All levels of workers can create goals for themselves. If you don't have any direct reports, you’ll see personal, team, department, and company goals.

Managers cannot create and assign goals to their direct reports, but they can view goals that their direct reports have created.

Adding Goals to Reviews

Administrators or managers will be able to view direct report's goals by adding them to a review. This helps managers evaluate the individual's goal with their review. Goals can be added through two options:

  • Ongoing goals: goals that have been started, but have not passed the end date when the review starts.
  • Other goals: goals that have been started and ended within a customizable date range from when the review is started. The goals can have been completed, or not.

Comments

Goals are able to be added to a review. The individual's manager will be able to review them in the context of their goals.

Adding to Reviews

Managers can add any direct report's ongoing or completed goals to a review. Goals are dynamically added to reviews, so you’ll see the latest goal status when completing a review.

Company administrators can create company, department, and team goals to promote transparency and direction to all workers.

  1. After logging in to your Zenefits account, click on the Performance Management app.
  2. Select Goals on the top tab.
  3. Click Create Goal to get started.
  4. To make it a Company Goal, select Company from the drop down menu next to Participants.

After completing all fields, goals will be available to all applicable individuals.

Company Goals: can only be created by full company or HR admins and can be viewed be everyone
