Connecticut Paid Family and Medical Leave

The PFMLA allows employees access to paid leave for life events covered under the federal Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 (FMLA), the Connecticut Family and Medical Leave Act (CT FMLA) and the Connecticut Family Violence Leave Act. 

The funding to support the CTPL program will come in the form of employee payroll deductions beginning January 1, 2021

Calculation

The funding to support the CTPL program will come in the form of employee payroll deductions beginning January 1, 2021. These payroll deductions are capped at 0.5% and there is no employer match.

The wage base is tied to the Social Security wage base which has increased to $142,800 for 2021. The tax rate will remain 0.5%, effective 01 January 2021. Connecticut Paid Leave is a new tax that will begin 01 January 2021.
