Waiting periods can affect both Time Off accrual and usage.
For example, if a company sets up a 90-day waiting period for sick leave and someone new is hired, that person will not begin accruing sick leave time until the initial 90-day period has passed. They will also be unable to submit requests for sick time during that time period.
However, new hires can still access the Time Off tool during the waiting period and use it for the following purposes:
- Make time-off requests for dates that occur after the waiting period expires.
- Make requests for unpaid time off for any date (regardless of the waiting period).
- Approve/reject time off requests from subordinates (managers only).
